In order to improve the status of reading books and using external and internal educational electronic resources of the scientific library, as well as to identify and encourage the most reading departments, in the beginning of 2018, the contest “The Most Reading Department” was announced (the information was posted on the University website according to the Documentolog).
Applications for participation in the competition were accepted from all 18 departments.
In summing up, all indicators were taken into account:
- the total number of visits by national students and teachers to the departments;
- The number of issued books and periodicals;
- number of used electronic resources in CED and in cheat. halls;
- the work of coordinators from the departments with a scientific library;
- Active participation in the mass events held by the National Library
According to the results of the competition for the I, II and III places selected the following departments:
I place – the department “Chemistry, chemical technology and ecology” (PPP) (the Cup “The most reading department”, as well as the book ” My motherland is Kazakhstan” handmade). The department was distinguished by high activity in the use of book resources and in completing the Book Supply module as a result of active attendance and training in the use of electronic resources at the Days of Scientific Library and Ask a Librarian events.
II place – Department of State and Foreign Languages (FLPiD), here it should be noted in addition to the active use of book and electronic resources the department annually conducts a tour and a presentation on the resources of the National Library for freshmen of the faculty (the prize «My motherland is Kazakhstan» was handmade);
III place – the department “Technology and design of products and goods” (FLPiD), (the prize is a valuable book “Kazak Chalkynyy Salt-dүrүrlerі” in Kazakh, Russian, English), showed a good result in studying their topics on the site scientific library and traditional book distribution.
The competition organizing committee reserved the right to establish an additional special prize:
- “The Most Reading Team” – the Technological and Economic College (the book “My Homeland is Kazakhstan” in Kazakh, Russian, English), in addition to the active use of electronic resources of the library, students are volunteers in the work of librarians.
- “Advanced User 2018” – a 3rd year student of the RDiGB, KasymkhanAsyl – a student spends all his free time in the library, leads his classmates, helping them in using the electronic resources of the university’s scientific library in search of reliable information through license subscriptions.
