Academic mobility

What is Academic Mobility?

Academic mobility is a period of study or research conducted at another university (in Kazakhstan or abroad) for a defined academic term
(a semester or an academic year) with the mandatory transfer and recognition of completed courses in the form of credits at the home university.

External Academic Mobility

Study of students at foreign universities, as well as employment or research activities of faculty members and researchers at foreign educational and scientific institutions.

Funding sources:

  • Republican budget funds of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan
  • International programs and grants (Erasmus+, DAAD, JASSO, etc.)
  • Personal funds of the student

Selection Procedure for Participation in External Mobility Programs

The selection of students for participation in academic mobility programs is carried out in accordance with the “Rules for Sending Students Abroad for Study, including within the Framework of Academic Mobility,” approved by Order No. 613 of the Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated November 19, 2008. At JSC “Almaty Technological University” (ATU), a Competition Commission has been established, chaired by the Rector of the University. The Commission includes representatives of the University, as well as representatives of elected bodies of the city and region, and public organizations of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

  Internal (National) Academic Mobility

Study of students and internships of faculty members at leading universities of Kazakhstan.

External Academic Mobility

Eligibility Criteria:

  • GPA of 0 and above;
  • Availability of internationally recognized foreign language proficiency certificates (IELTS, TOEFL).

The following students are eligible to apply:

  • 1st- and 2nd-year undergraduate students;
  • 1st-year Master’s students.

Internal Academic Mobility

Eligibility Criteria:

  • GPA of 2.67 and above.
