Representatives of ATU took part in the International Forum on Meat Product Quality held in Astana

As part of the Forum, the ISO/TC 34/SC 6 “Meat, poultry, fish, eggs and their products” Plenary Meeting was held. Raushan Ulangazievna Uazhanova, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, Head of the Department of Food Safety and Quality, Chair of Technical Committee No. 67 for Standardization “Technology, Quality and Safety of Food Products,” Kazakhstan’s representative in international ISO technical committees and a full member of several ISO/TC 34 subcommittees, delivered a presentation entitled “The Future of Meat Standardization: From Laboratory Testing to Intelligent Quality and Safety Assessment.”
The presentation outlined a vision for the future of meat product standardization, focusing on the transition from traditional laboratory control to an integrated system for intelligent quality and safety assessment.
Particular attention was paid to integrating advanced analytical technologies, including LC-MS/MS, ICP-MS, PCR and NIR/FTIR, together with digital traceability and artificial intelligence into a unified decision-making system. The presentation was highly appreciated by the professional community, with discussions focusing on the development of international standards, improvement of testing methods and laboratory infrastructure, and expansion of international cooperation.
The Forum brought together specialists from China, India, Japan, Kenya, Malaysia, Mozambique, Russia, Sweden, Tanzania and Uganda, giving the event a truly international scope.
Following the Forum, Kazakhstan also proposed an initiative to develop the first international ISO standard for ready-to-eat horse meat products, including traditional products such as kazy, shuzhuk, zhal and zhaya.
Participation in the Forum provided an opportunity to present Kazakhstan’s scientific vision at the international level, share national expertise and ideas, and contribute to the professional global dialogue on the future of meat product quality, safety and standardization.
The International Forum on Meat Product Quality became one of the key platforms for exchanging international experience in science, advanced technologies and the development of future standards.
