Scientific activity

The scientific activity of the teaching staff of the Department of Tourism and Service represents the integration of academic research with practical application in the tourism and hospitality industry:

  • Teachers regularly publish research articles in national and international scientific journals, participate in conferences, symposiums and other scientific events
  • The faculty actively cooperates with representatives of the hospitality and tourism industry to conduct applied research, develop innovative solutions and techniques
  • Teachers can participate in international scientific projects, cooperate with foreign educational and scientific institutions
  • Development and modernization of educational programs based on current research and trends in the field of tourism and service
  • Organizing and conducting research conferences, seminars and master classes for students, as well as mentoring in the framework of writing theses and dissertations
  • Conducting research in key areas: Such as sustainable tourism, innovations in the service sector, digital technologies in tourism, strategic management in the hospitality industry, etc.
  • Teachers are engaged in the development and implementation of research projects funded by public and private grants, as well as on an initiative basis.

One of the many research topics of the teaching staff of the TiSO department are the following:

  • Name of research: Current problems of the hospitality industry in the Republic of Kazakhstan"; Amount of financing, tenge: own funds (15,000 tenge); Head: associate Professor, PhD, Associate Professor, Zheldibaev A.E.;
  • Name of research: "Development of a strategy for the development of a regional tourist and recreational complex"; Amount of financing, tenge: financing of JSC "ATU" (6 million tenge); Head: Associate Professor, PhD, Associate Professor, Zheldibaev A.E.

The research activity of students of the Department of Tourism and Service is an important component of their academic development. It is aimed at forming a scientific approach to the discipline under study, developing critical thinking and practical skills in the field of tourism and service.

The research activities of the students of the department are as follows:

  • Under the guidance of experienced teachers, students develop research projects, analyzing current problems and trends in the industry;
  • Students present the results of their research at various scientific venues, both at the university level and at the regional and international levels;
  • The active participation of students in the publication of their works in student and professional journals is supported;
  • Students can participate in research projects conducted jointly with enterprises and organizations of the hospitality industry;
  • Students are given the opportunity to participate in specialized programs and courses aimed at in-depth study of specific issues in the field of tourism and service;
  • Students can participate in real-world projects, for example, the development of new tourist routes, optimization of business processes in the hotel industry or marketing research;
  • The department has student scientific communities where topical issues are discussed, seminars and master classes are held;
  • Students participate in scientific competitions at various levels, from the University StartUp ATU competition to international competitions.
