About CIOT

GENERAL PROVISIONS

The Center for Innovative Educational Technologies (CIET) is a structural unit of JSC Almaty Technological University. The CIET includes: the Department of e-learning (DE), the Department of development of digital educational resources (DDDER).

The Center for Innovative Educational Technologies was established in response to the initiative of the European Commission on "Opening education to all with the help of new technologies" and in accordance with the project "Modernization of Higher Education in Central Asia through New Technologies (HiEdTec)".

MAIN OBJECTIVES

• Improving the quality and accessibility of education through the integration and effective use of digital educational technologies and massive open online courses (MOOCs).
• Development of digital literacy and competencies among the teaching staff and students through training seminars and workshops on digital technologies and tools.
• Modernization of the educational platform to enhance its functionality, usability and integration of modern digital tools such as artificial intelligence.
• Providing access and promotion of MOOCs and digital educational resources (DCS) to expand educational opportunities for a wide range of students.
• Assistance in the exchange of experience and best practices in the field of digitalization of education among educational institutions and organizations.

THE TASKS OF THE CENTER

Organization and maintenance of MOOCs, COR:

• Development and implementation of massive open online courses.
• Placement of courses on the educational platform.
• Monitoring and analysis of the use of courses and educational resources.

Development and implementation of new digital technologies:

• Research and implementation of advanced technologies in the educational process (artificial intelligence, VR/AR, cloud solutions).
• Modernization and technical updating of the educational platform.

Training and professional development of teachers:

• Conducting seminars and trainings on working with digital educational tools.
• Exchange of experience and best practices in the field of digitalization of education.

Technical support and development of multimedia materials:

• Creation and processing of audio and video materials for educational courses.
• Technical support and advice for teachers and students on the use of digital resources.

Marketing and distribution of educational resources:

• Promotion of MOOCs and DCS among the target audience.
• Working with partners and educational institutions to expand the availability and use of digital educational resources.
