The Department of Food Technology was established in 1986 and is a specialized department of the Almaty Technological University.

The teaching staff of the department consists of leading scientists and specialists with extensive scientific, pedagogical and practical experience, who have completed internships at advanced enterprises of the food and processing industries of the Republic of Kazakhstan, in the countries of the near and far abroad. Leading teachers of natural sciences are involved in the training of students, undergraduates and doctoral students.

The department has 38 full-time teachers: 7 Doctors of Sciences, 13 candidates of Sciences, 4 PhD, 15 masters, including

  • 2 holders of the badge «For merits in the development of science» (Alimardanova M., Uzakov Y.),
  • 3 holders of the badge «Honorary Worker of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan» (Rskeldiev B., Baibolova L., Taeva A.),
  • 9 holders of the grant of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan «The best university teacher» (Alimardanova M., Dikhanbayeva F., Taeva A., Abzhanova Sh., Baibolova L., Uzakov Y., Kenenbai Sh., Matibaeva A., Jetpisbayeva B.);
  • 4 holders of the state scholarship of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan «Young talented scientist» (Baibolova L., Taeva A., Mukhtarkhanova R., Kuzembayeva G.)

Great attention is paid to the development of the professional level of the teaching staff at ATU.

The teaching staff of the department annually undergo advanced training courses and scientific internships at partner universities and research institutes of far and near abroad, industrial internships at leading food enterprises of the Republic of Kazakhstan, participate in scientific and methodological seminars and conferences, exhibitions and other events.

Teachers are trained according to the educational program of the doctoral program «Food technology» and successfully defend their doctoral dissertations.
