The Department of Social Sciences and Humanities has a long history. Over the years, the department has been headed by scientists: Associate Professor S.O. Omarov, Associate Professor L.A. Umirzakova, Ph.D., Professor N.Sagadiev, Ph.D., Associate Professor A.K.Zakiryanov, Ph.D. ass.professor H.T.Tukenova. Currently, the head of the department is Ph.D., Associate Professor K.K. Rysbekov.

The staff of the department teaches students and undergraduates in social and humanitarian disciplines in all educational programs. The training is conducted in Kazakh, Russian, and English. Currently, the department employs 27 faculty members. Among them are the teaching staff with academic degrees: Doctor of Sciences - 2, Candidate of Sciences – 9, PhD–3, assistant Master-12.

The Department of "Social and Humanitarian Disciplines" trains highly qualified specialists.

The mission of the department

is the formation of a socially active personality with a humanistic worldview, high political consciousness and culture, nurturing a sense of patriotism, developing elements of critical thinking, personal and professional culture of students.

Purpose of the department

Training of highly qualified, competitive specialists based on the achievements of modern science and practice, through continuous improvement of competence and development of creative initiative.

To provide objective historical knowledge about the main stages of the History of Kazakhstan, to bring to the consciousness of students the essence of the fundamental problems of history, to teach them scientific methods of historical knowledge, to form in them a scientific worldview and civic position.

To teach students to analyze philosophical, political, social and cultural phenomena and processes occurring in the state and society. To promote the correct and competent use of acquired knowledge by students in the professional field.

Tasks of the department

- development of content and methods of teaching humanitarian and social disciplines;

- preparation and implementation of innovative educational programs;

- maximum use of the creative potential of the professors-teaching staff;

- use of the department’s capabilities in the process of developing professional competencies;

- use of innovative teaching methods using modern achievements.

Functions of the department

- Conducting all types of training sessions according to forms of education;

- Conducting meetings to discuss planned and current issues of educational, methodological, scientific work of the department.
