The Department of “Automation and Robotics” was established in 1957 and has held a leading position for more than six decades in training highly qualified engineering specialists in the field of automation and robotics.
At different times, the department was headed by Professors: Baurzhan Kumargalievich Nurakhmetov, Amangeldy Tusupovich Tusupov, and Ural Tutkabayevich Abdrakhimov, as well as Associate Professors Igor Nikolaevich Yamshchikov, Hakim Yusupovich Tsunvaza, Vladimir Mikhailovich Kostyuchenko, Kamalkhan Uvalievich Karymsakov, and Nurlan Maulenovich Erzhanov. Significant contributions to the development of the department were made by Amangeldy Tuktybaevich Aymurzaev, Eraly Ertaevich Abdurayimov, and Firuza Abdullayevna Saidyenova.
From 2018 to 2021, the department was headed by Candidate of Technical Sciences and Associate Professor Abdumalik Rakhimovich Seitkulov, during whose tenure the department was renamed to “Automation and Robotics.” From 2022 to 2024, the department was led by Associate Professor, PhD, K.O. Togzhanova.
Since September 2024, the department has been headed by Assistant Professor, PhD Aynur Alibekovna Ormanbekova. Today, the department actively implements innovative approaches to education, strengthens collaboration with industrial partners, and expands international cooperation.
As part of the dual education program, undergraduate and graduate students of the department undergo training and practical experience at the partner enterprise LLP “STIM-ASIA,” which helps strengthen ties with industry and improve the quality of professional training. In addition, specialists with practical experience are actively involved in the educational process — certain subjects are taught by employees of companies such as JSC “Halyk Bank” and LLP “Rafis.”
In the rankings of national accreditation agencies (“Independent Agency for Quality Assurance in Education” and “National Accreditation and Rating Agency”), as well as the NCE “Atameken,” the department’s bachelor’s and master’s educational programs consistently hold leading positions among universities in Kazakhstan.
