The Bolashak International Scholarship was established on November 5, 1993 by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan N. A. Nazarbayev.

At the dawn of independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan, highly qualified personnel were required, who were to carry out further reforms and adequately represent the country on the world stage. For the first time in the history of the post-Soviet states, talented young people were given the opportunity to study abroad.

Year after year, the program gained momentum and adapted to the implementation of state tasks.
