The Bolash international scholarship was established on November 5, 1993 by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan N. A. Nazarbayev.

At the dawn of independence, the Republic of Kazakhstan required highly qualified personnel who were to carry out further reforms and adequately represent the country on the world stage. For the first time in the history of the post-Soviet states, talented young people were given the opportunity to receive education abroad.

Year after year, the program gained momentum and adapted to the implementation of state objectives.

The German Academic Exchange Service DAAD is the world’s largest organization for the support of international student and research exchange. As of 2013, the DAAD unites 239 German participating universities and 122 student organizations and is an intermediary in organizing foreign cultural policies, as well as the policies of higher education and science in Germany. The DAAD headquarters is located in Bonn. DAAD organizes and finances academic exchanges of students and scholars, supports German studies and German studies, informs about educational and research opportunities in Germany, and also contributes to the internationalism and prestige of German universities. DAAD has 15 overseas offices and 55 information centers around the world.

Application procedure:

All organizational issues — from developing the route, establishing contacts, receiving confirmations from the German side to booking tickets and hotels — are decided independently by the teacher and students planning to apply for participation in the competition. Application and support of the group is carried out only by a university teacher.

Re-financing of study tours of student groups of the same faculty or another subdivision of the university is possible not earlier than two years after receiving a group scholarship.

Required documents:

  • Questionnaire (filled online)
  • List of participants;
  • a detailed justification of the need for a planned study tour of students of the same specialty;
  • a detailed program of the group’s stay in Germany, including visits to specific institutions of higher education, organizations and companies that are important from a professional point of view, as well as cultural and other institutions to gain cross-cultural knowledge of Germany;
  • the schedule of trips to cities in Germany (no more than 5-6 cities) by day in tabular form;
  • arrangements for preparing the group for the trip (holding preparatory seminars, etc.);
  • the consent of the German institutions, especially German universities, to accept the group in the terms specified in the application; the document confirming the consent, it is enough to send by fax or e-mail.

The program of J. William Fulbright was founded in 1946 to promote mutual agreement between the American people and people from different countries of the world. Today, the Fulbright program is one of the most recognized and prestigious programs in the world. Hundreds of graduates from this program all over the world occupy high positions in politics, education, journalism and in the private sector. Thirty-nine Fulbright graduates from eleven countries around the world are Nobel laureates (including Muhammad Yunus and Milton Friedman). Eighteen graduates of the program were either headed by governments or held top government positions (including former Brazilian President Cardoso and former Swedish Prime Minister Carlsson). Fulbright alumnus Boutros Boutros-Ghali also served as UN Secretary-General.

Fulbright grants are awarded on the basis of open competition. This contributes to the honest selection of the most deserving candidates and the achievement of the goal of this program, namely the achievement of mutual understanding and mutual benefit by bringing a contribution to the communities not only of the host country, but also of the home country.

For more than 25 years, Europe has sponsored the ERASMUS program, which has allowed more than three million European students to spend part of their studies in universities in other European countries. ERASMUS + opens up these opportunities for students and university staff in other parts of the world.

Under the program of international credit mobility, a university partner can send its students, Ph.D. candidates, or staff to another partner university from the list of program countries and vice versa. Students have the opportunity to study abroad for a limited period of time (from 3 to 12 months). After the mobility phase, the student returns to his university to complete the study.

As part of the ERASMUS + program, the Almaty Technological University has signed interinstitutional agreements with universities such as Metropolitan University, Budapest, Hungary and many other universities in Europe.

The Hungarian government has established a program for 2013. It was a program of international scholarship and scholarship programs. Currently, 41 countries are in the scholarship program.
